Surya Retail was established 13 years ago as a result of two friends travelling over many years in India, and a love of handcrafted jewellery.

Personal jewellery, bought on trips, was admired by family and friends, and requests were made for similar things. This meant that part of the trips invariably included the selection of jewellery and textiles to fulfil the requests. As a wider circle admired the jewellery, it was suggested that a collection should be offered for sale in the UK, and so, thirteen years ago, one of the travellers began Surya retail.

Surya on line was formed because many people, who could only see and buy from the collection once a year, asked for more access to a collection.

The other half of the travelling duo now provides the jewellery on a wholesale basis and so is still actively involved with the traders and their jewellery.

Much of the jewellery is still handcrafted in small workshops, and all is still personally selected with the same care that characterises Surya Retail.
